“Salt water is an astringent & speeds up wound healing. Floating in sea water is an extreme release of tension and stress of the day. It relaxes muscular aches, pains, sunburns, rashes, and irritated skin.....If you don’t live nearby the seas, allow yourself to float weightlessly in your bathtub with a handful of seasalt to refresh yourself up.” – Ayako, 2011
Note: When choosing sea salt, please try to get the organic type if possible. Do not use any scented type or anything that is mixed with other type of minerals.
There are various methods to cleanse your body using sea salt.
1)
The easiest and convenience method is to buy some
organic sea salt (from supermarkets or stores selling organic food stuff). After
shower, apply the sea salt over your entire body area. The amount to apply is
up to your personal choice. Leave it there for at least 10 – 15 mins. During
this period of time, if you can, please try to close your eyes and relax your
body and mind.
[Optional Technique] Try to imagine within your
mind that your body has layers of dark skin, like an onion and you had them “peeled”
off layer by layer. You stop when you feel that your heart had lightened or
your emotion feels better.
Finally, when you feel better, open your eyes
slowly and then rinse off the salt with water.
2)
Go to the sea side and soaked your body in sea water
for at least 15 -20 min. You may use the above Optional Technique if you wish.
3)
If you have a bath tub, you may add in the sea salt and
soak for at least 15 – 20 min. You may use the above Optional Technique if you
wish.
4)
You may also wish to add in aroma essential oils (i.e.
Rose Geranium oil and Lemon Oil) with the sea salt.
